They say that kids are twice faster than adults in learning a second language. According to linguists, human brain contains a built-in language apparatus that is programmed to help human speak a certain language through the sound and word that is being stored into his mental framework.

Adults can learn language by studying it analytically which makes the process lengthy. But kids study languages in opposite way as adult do. They internalize the rules instead of analyzing it; this technique helps the kids learn faster.

Did you know that you can start teaching your kids to speak French as early as their infancy period? Yes, you heard it right. All you have to do is to make sure you that you got all the right tools to make the teaching more exciting and effective.

In teaching your kids to speak French, it is important that you should have variety of teaching tools to avoid boredom on the part of the kids. So you may start teaching them by using storybooks that are published mainly for teaching French language on kids. Another tool is an Audio CD that could aid your kid in speaking and pronouncing French words. This could make your kid feel more relaxed from their regular French lessons.

Try doing these things together: read, listen and speak French. Repeat some words and phrases from the audio CD that catches your child’s interest. You may also ask your kid about his/her thoughts on the pictures, characters and colors that are presented on the book.

Of course you don’t want your child to get bored, so instead of listening to audio CD again and again, why not try using French words several times when you talk to him/her? This could be more enjoyable for your kids than listening to the usual audio CD. Start this by changing some English word to a French word. Say, you want to describe a big house, so you say it in French “la grande maison ” or “les fleurs ” if you are pointing to a flower.

Just remember that in every lesson, you have to increase your kid’s French vocabulary and keep it at his/her own pace. Adding some fun ways to learn in every session could make the lessons more interesting.

So why not let your kids do some of the French action songs flashed on TV to measure his/her understanding ability? Interesting! I know you would say that. But French vocabulary quizzes and interactive games can be fun too!
